At the risk of being simplistic… could this remind of us the proverb about the person looking in a lighted street for the lost key to their house actually dropped in some leaves right outside their front door, which happens to be on a still unlighted street.
“Why don’t you come and look in our street?”, says a neighbour.
The first homeowner replies: “because this street has lights; ours doe not.”
