Customizing the default tool behavior

Customers ask us fairly frequently if there’s a way to set a tool to use a different style. The answer is yes! So I thought I’d share here in case anyone else was wondering…

You can change the default behavior of a tool by adjusting attributes directly on the tool itself just like you would an object on the canvas. After doing so, elements you add to the canvas later using that tool will have the attribute(s) you applied to the tool by default.

For example, to change the default shadow of new objects, choose the Shape tool in the Tool Palette and use the Shadow section of the Object inspector to adjust the default Shadow fuzziness value.
