(1) Is it possible to hide the middle part (see picture)?
If not, I don’t find the favorites convenient compared to task field (always visible).
(2) Is it possible to change contexts automatically (triggered by date)? For instance, waiting for could change at a specific date, because you need to follow up on it, as you haven’t heard back yet.
Some thoughts about that?

Not really an answer, but I personally use due dates for this so it turns up in Forecast view.
Makes sense! I am just afraid that I clutter my forecast view.
I personally give it the context it will be, such as “calls” or a person-specific context, and then put a defer date on it. When I’m just working it stays out of my attention unless time has passed. When I get calls and I’m seeing if there is anything else I want to talk about, I look at remaining tasks in my scan so I can pick that sort of deferred task up.
