How do I set up a master layer behind all pages?

I want to have a layer in the background of all my pages where I put the header and footer info for the pages (using variables to change the page numbers, etc.). How do I set up a layer that can be changed in one place, but shows up behind all pages? Right now I need to create a layer and then copy it to each page, which is obviously inefficient. Thanks.

Omingraffle calls these shared layers, and they’re an Omnigraffle Pro feature. If you’re using OG Pro, you can create one in several ways:

  • Right-click on the canvas in the sidebar and use New Shared Layer in the resulting pop-up menu.
  • Use the gear-icon pulldown at the bottom of the sidebar to get the same menu.
  • Use the item in the Edit>Layers> menu.

I do not have this function in any of those places. I’m on 6.1. What gives?

Are you sure you’re using Omnigraffle Pro rather than Omnigraffle Standard?
