Kanban would be interesting in OmniOutliner, too. If it’s easy to add and move cards, kanban can be a decent brainstorming/draft-writing environment.

Aye, me too, I was very much looking forward to this when it was first mentioned, and the delay’s only made me more curious as to what they’ve got planned :-)
Kanban seems to me cumbersome on a smaller screen - anything below 4K. So that rather rules out iPads and iPhones.
But we’ll see - I hope. And maybe the “real estate” problem is one that can be solved. After all Trello relies on it.
Crazy that we might see GTA6 launch before OmniFocus’s kanban feature ^_^
Like with everything from OmniGroup, it’ll be done when it’s done. I’ve been waiting for their kanban feature since it was first announced because a kanban view/organizer for OF projects/tasks would be immensely helpful for my workflow – Kanban’s been the missing sauce for me with project/task management because it can help organize things on a mid-term level. Currently I’ve got a huge whiteboard in my office with magnetic reusable index cards that I’ll use to try and keep track/triage things for the upcoming week and reminders of what needs to be done over the next 2-4 weeks. I’d love to be able to use this digitally and with my OF projects.

I spend 99% of my time in OmniFocus on desktop. I only really use the Mobile version for a quick capture on the go, so it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest if the Kanban mode was only available on the larger screens

Or if it only showed one column at a time on a phone in portrait and allowed multiple columns in Landscape

Kanban definitely has to be a topic in the upcoming “Omni Roadmap 2026 — Post-WWDC Update”! Looking forward to that, and to seeing what further developments are planned for AI integrations.

I noticed there was only a passing reference to kanban on the Roadmap 2026 — Post-WWDC Update, with much more time dedicated to OmniLinks. I’m unclear if it’s a priority at the moment
I took the implication that there had been a rethink on how to implement it sadly.
Yeah I’ve seen the latest post from OG and they’re delaying and going back to the design phase. Seems unlikely we’ll see this in 2026.
Well, done right is going to be worth the wait.
