The inbox icon on OF 2 for iPad changes its numeric value based on the count of items in the inbox. The current Mac implementation displays a colored line at the edge of the sidebar icon for the inbox.
The iPad has a superior interface implementation on this one. The goal was supposed to be consistency across platforms, so the Mac would benefit from showing the count instead of a line.
Interesting idea and I could definitely see how this could be useful. If you haven’t already, I recommend you email this suggestion to the OmniGroup at omnifocus@omnigroup.com.
It looks like it does when you have the inbox selected… The count is at the bottom of whichever pane is selected, but not visible in the sidebar. I think it would be nice info to display in the sidebar as well.
