We’ve released an MCP for OmniOutliner ( OmniOutliner Claude AI MCP Server ) and we’re testing local LLMs (and Claude in our tests) having controlled access to projects in OF, brain storms and RAID logs in OO, collaborations in Miro, and even hand written notes on a Remarkable (https://github.com/levantar-ai/msp-remarkable). Once we’ve pushed the tests to the limit, we’ll write a blog post to share whether it helped to have an LLM as an integral part of our brainstorming and planning workflow.

Also, if it’d be useful for others, we’ll likely turn our MCP servers into plugins for easier use

I’ve been testing this one.

  • s-morgan-jeffries/omnifocus-mcp, version 0.13.2

So far, it’s passed all tests and is working great. This one seemed to have all the functionality I needed.

Requirements that led to this server:

  1. Full write capability, create, update, complete, not just queries

  2. Task hierarchy: subtasks, sequential blocking, reorder, parent auto-completion, the shot-list pattern

  3. Recurrence read and write, with completion spawning the next occurrence

  4. Tag creation and application, for marking agent-created tasks

  5. Batch operations, multiple different mutations in one call

  6. Per-task time estimates, for shoot-day schedule math

  7. Full project lifecycle: status changes, folders, review cycles

  8. A pinned, tagged release backed by a serious test suite and a blind agent-usability eval

    If there’s a reason to switch to a different MCP server, I’d love to hear it.

Anyone any skinny on the official MCP? Would really speed up my day…

I am about 24 hours away from leaving OF for good over this not being in place and moving to Nirvana…

Do you think that Omni can spin up an MCP server in 24 hours to meet your ultimatum?

I mean I installed 2 that do the job in about 10 minutes and given they have had a year - yeah I reckon they could possibly get a wriggle on

I’m also interested in an offical MCP server for OmniFocus. Have OmniGroup mentioned any plans to create one? Is it on their roadmap?

The Omni Roadmap 2026 — Post-WWDC Update post (Ken Case, July 7, 2026) includes multiple mentions of MCP.
