Open in new view/tab

The “open in new view/tab” functionality works strangely for me. When I enable “open in new view/tab” for some perspective, I get the following behavior:

1. When I select that perspective from a menu or use the associated keyboard shortcut, I do get a new tab or window.
2. When I select that perspective in my sidebar or click on an internal omnifocus:///perspectives/NameX link, I do not get a new tab or window.

According to a previous discussion, it’s possible to open perspective links in new windows via AppleScript:

If i put an OF internal link in the notes for a task, it opens in the same window when I click on it. How do I edit e.g. omnifocus:///perspective/Waiting to make it open in a new window?

That seems like a terrible hack. Does anyone know what the plan is regarding this behavior? Is there some reason for OmniFocus to behave as it does, or is this something which is going to be “fixed”?
