Siri won't use Inbox

I’m struggling with using Siri to add tasks. I’ve tried phrasing the request several ways. The default " “Add a task named ~ in OmniFocus” almost works. However, I get prompted to add the task to an already existing project. I’m presented with three odd projects. If I say “Inbox”, I then have to listen to every project.

I just want the task to go to the general Inbox (which isn’t even an option with every project read). Under the directions (Interacting With Siri - OmniFocus 3 Reference Manual for iOS), I believe that the Inbox is supposed to be the default.

iOS 26.1 (but had the same problem with iOS 26, and, I believe, iOS 18).

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Do not use “Add”. Use “Remember me in Omnifocus”. I have been using “remember” for a long time and it has always worked.

If it is any help, I created a separate reminders list called “Focus”, turned on the Reminders Capture, pointed it to that list and activate siri using “… add X to my Focus list” and it works surprisingly well. Failures tend to be from an ambiguous statement (“add add the cable…”, for example).

Thanks for this. I’ve changed to using “Remind” (I forgot that you used “Remember”), and this works well.

Now when I’m driving, I can just say “Remind me in Omnifocus Listen to Middle School Matters Podcast” and “Listen to Middle School Matters Podcast” will be in my Omnifocus Inbox.

Thanks so much.

I have a list called OmniFocus as the default inbox in Reminders. So when I say “Remember to” (in Norwegian “Husk å”) “something”, then it moves the task automatically into my OF Inbox. If I want the task to go into my Reminders Grocery List - I specify that by saying “Remember to (buy carrots) in the grocery list”. Works very well.
