Tasks vs Actions

I am new to OF and am a bit confused with the terms used in some of the articles and videos I have viewed. Some use the term tasks for anything entered into the inbox and others use the term action ( as in the inbox in OF) Are people referring to the same thing but using different terminology or am I missing something?

GTD uses the term “Next Action”:

A visible, physical task that can be performed without thinking about how to do it. The most atomic unit of information in your GTD system. There is a bit of an art to defining work items as a next action. Use action verbs, and keep it succinct.

For me actions and tasks are the same and interchangeable.
