Hi. Please help me understand this behaviour: I have a perspective showing available tasks with a specific tag. I created a task group with several subtasks within a project. I tagged the group but not the subtasks, as I don’t need to see all those in the perspective. First, that group didn’t show up in my perspective. Finally I figured out that I can make it show up if I set it to „sequential“ instead of „parallel“. This is really confusing to me. Is there a logical reason for this behaviour that can help me understand how to set the system up without risiking not to see certain tasks?
Can you share screenshots? I can’t duplicate this.
Thanks for looking into this! I think there are problems beyond what I described above. That was just something I did that coincided with the view updating. Items don’t show up after being tagged.
I just played around and got the same result (the task finally showing up) when changing some settings within the rules of the perspective and then back again.
I tried to update the view by pulling down (I’m on iPhone right now) but that does not result in the task showing. Only when I do more invasive stuff like changing the perspective settings or the group type does the perspective update to show the new task.
These are the settings of the perspective (in German)
I often have difficulties understanding what people indent in creating a certain perspective. For me to understand you need to be very specific.
Project 1
— Action Group 1 (tagged with MyTag)
—— Action 1
—— Action 2
— Action Group 2 (tagged with MyTag)
Project 2
— Action Group 2
—— Action 3
You only want to see this in your custom perspective? Is this correct?
Action Group 1
Action Group 2
Or do you want to see the actions only?
You could write in German as well if that helps.
Yes, that was what I was aiming for. But looking deeper into this I have the suspicion that it’s not about what I indent or not. It seems to be a more general issue of tasks randomly not showing up.
Recently I figured that tasks can only show if their corresponding project is tagged as well and wondered why. But this was probably due to the same phenomenon: After I assigned the tag to the project as well the view finally updated and the task showed. But not because of what I did but simply because I did anything.
I guess I‘ll just delete and recreate that perspective and see if it happens anymore.
I made a screen recording of some of the confusing behavior. This is again something else, but another example of stuff not showing up where I expect it. I change the perspective from organized to flexible and see no tasks. Or from sorted by project to sorted by task – and see no tasks. Is this the expected behavior and I simply don’t understand the logic or is something broken?
