What does OmniFocus "go to outline" do?

I’ve selected “go to outline” in several different places within OmniFocus and nothing happens. What is this feature?

If you are “in” the Sidebar or the Inspector, it will switch you to the “outline” of projects and tasks in the middle of the user interface. It’s a little more apparent if you are in the “outline” and select “Go to Inspector.” Try that and it should make more sense.
