Automatically synching reminders entered via Siri in iOS

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about how syncing reminders entered via Siri works in OF2 on iOS. If I tell Siri to remind me of something and later in the day, I look at OF on my Mac (without having opened OF on my iPhone), that reminder is not there. It seems that I need to open OF on my iPhone and allow it to sync before it shows up in OF on my Mac. Is that the way it needs to be done? I just want to make sure there isn’t some background sync setting on my iPhone for OF that I’m missing.

Thanks!

Hi there @friz! Good question.

In order to capture reminders added via Siri, OmniFocus does need to run and sync on your iPhone. It tries to do this in the background when possible using a technology called Background App Refresh – but iOS determines when, exactly, any given app can launch like that.

Our support team can give you some tips on working with Background App Refresh – feel free to get in touch with them. As a workaround in the meantime, you can launch OmniFocus on your iPhone and let it sync, as you’ve discovered.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for using OmniFocus.
