Borrowing husband's computer

Currently, my husband and I each have Omnifocus and we access it from separate computers. However, we are going on vacation and only want to take one laptop with us. Of course, we each have separate Omnifocus accounts. What I’d like to be able to do while on vacation is to use his laptop and bring the data from MY account up on the computer. Then when I’m done, we’d switch back to having his Omnifocus data available on his computer.

How can I go from one account to another. I know it can be done, because at one time I considered having a separate account for WORK and PERSONAL, and Ken-Case said it could be done. This is what he said:

“Yes, this is something you can do with a single license; you just need to configure the app to use a separate sync location for each library. The easiest way to do that is to set up another Omni Account.
When you set up the app, you’re first prompted to sign into an Omni Account to license the app. You’re then asked to set up syncing. The fields are prefilled to use the same Omni Account you just used for licensing, but you don’t have to use those settings: you can specify a different Omni Account, or you can use the Advanced settings to specify your own custom location. So if you like you can use your main Omni Account for your personal library, and an alternate Omni Account for your work tasks.”

However - I just can’t figure out the step to do to switch from one account to the other within my Omnifocus app. Note - currently I have Omnifocus 3, though I’ve considered upgrading to Omnifocus 4.

Thanks!!

In OmniFocus, you can switch back and forth between two sync databases by turning sync off, then entering the sync details for the other account and turning sync back on.

But for this situation what I would recommend instead is creating a separate Mac user on the same computer. You can put the Fast User Switching control in the menu bar, and then you can configure your user on that laptop as if it’s your own laptop, with your own settings for everything (including OmniFocus sync settings, but also email, browser history and bookmarks, etc.). Using the Fast User Switching menu bar menu, it’s very easy to switch back and forth between users. (And if the laptop supports Touch ID, you can even switch users by simply touching the laptop’s Touch ID control and having it recognize whose fingerprint is whose.)

Hope this helps!
