Checkboxes are useful, but on iPhone it is difficult to work with lines that contain them.

It looks like you changed the Topic column to be a checkbox type. That means it can only contain a checkbox in each cell. The Topic column is special and can instead contain Status checkboxes with each row without changing the column type.
Change the Topic column back to Rich Text, and then make the Status visible by clicking on the eye icon on its left–
Now you can add text to the cell while still having a checkbox at the start. Alternatively you can add additional columns and set those to be checkboxes.
