Effort vs Duration in Task Info

What’s the difference between Effort vs Duration in the Task info?

I have a task that is 1 day’s worth of effort but will take 1w to complete. I assumed that I could just feed 1d in Effort and 1w in duration. But Duration goes back to the effort value once I save.

Am I mis-understanding the logic here?

What did you mean 1 day’s worth of effort but will take 1 week to complete?
Could you post ur gantt chart here?

It’s 8 hours worth of work. But the work is normally can’t be done in just one day. Since it requires feedback from a 3rd party continuously as you go. So 1d of effort. 1w duration…
