Feature idea: delayed resolved items cleanup

Hi all,

I wanted to submit a feature request, but I’d like to see if this is something that would benefit others as well. If there is some traction, I’ll submit the request via the appropriate channel.

TL;DR: I miss a “middle-ground” setting for the automated cleanup:

I tried to set it to Immediately, but too often I check a task (or drop it), and then I start doubting if I clicked the wrong item. The visual feedback of seeing an item checked or dropped is valuable to me. This is why I leave this to When changing perspectives but, since I do not change perspective that often, I end up always using the ⌘-k shortcut (or pulling down, on mobile) to remove the completed items. This adds some friction that I’d rather avoid.

I think an intermediate option, which would delay the cleanup of completed tasks by a fixed amount of time, would be useful to me. Something between 10 and 30 seconds would seem appropriate, or maybe just let the user decide. Or, possibly, just introducing a short delay (a couple of seconds) on the existing Immediate setting.

Does this resonate with anyone else?

I’d be in favor a drop down that has, for example, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, and never. I’d like to see what I have and haven’t done in a given day without switching to the “Completed” perspective, and this would kill two birds with one stone.

This is a great idea. I can’t stand when I’m processing stuff and a task that I’m updating gets whisked away in the middle. It happens all the time, too.
