The Goal: I am trying to build a custom perspective that groups by Tag, but I only want to see sections for a specific tag hierarchy (let’s call it Tag “B” and its subtags).
The Problem: Many of my actions have multiple tags (e.g., one action is tagged with “B.b” AND “D”). Because the perspective groups by Tag, OmniFocus creates a section for every tag on the action. This means the action is listed twice: once under the “B.b” section, and again under a “D” section.
I strictly do not want to see the “D” section. The whole point of this perspective is to see precisely and only the “B” sections.
The OF4 Limitation: If I manually click Tag “B” in the sidebar, the view is perfect. It completely isolates the “B” sections, hides the secondary tags, and eliminates the duplicate listings.
However, in OF4, there is no way to save this sidebar selection into the perspective’s definition. Every time I navigate away and return to the perspective (unless it happens to be starred in the bar), the sidebar resets. All the unwanted secondary tag sections return, and I have to manually filter the sidebar by hand again.
