I’ve seen this question asked but not answered, and Omnifocus 3 has come out since it was asked so I’m going to ask again: Is there a way to set up subtasks or perspectives, so that a Task shows up in the perspective, but not all the subtasks?
OmniFocus supports action groups but doesn’t technically support subtasks. The key distinction is that subtasks (the way I would define this term) are part of an action whereas action groups are a groups of actions.
You can create a perspective that shows projects and groups without displaying actions, though the action groups won’t become available until their child actions are completed or dropped. Similarly, a project doesn’t become available until all of its actions have been completed or dropped.
It would be very helpful to have the option to include a checklist within an action. If you haven’t already, I recommend submitting this request to Omni by choosing Contact Omni from the Help menu (Mac) or Settings (iPhone/iPad).
