I have some projects that have a large number of individual tasks such as my book reading list, or list of games I want to play, movies that I want to watch, etc.
To make finding an individual action within a specific project easier, is there a way to search for actions just inside of a specific project?
I’m on Omnifocus 4.6 on Mac and iOS, though in this case, I’m most like to be on my Mac when managing projects with a large number of actions.
You can prevent the search from running in the remaining existing projects by focusing on the desired project.
Select the project you want to search in the project view by clicking on it. (You can also search in multiple projects by holding down the Cmd-key and clicking on the projects.)
To set the focus, press Shift + Cmd + F. All unselected projects will disappear.
Search Here — Search includes all items currently visible in the Outline. For many perspectives this includes the entire content of the perspective, but for perspectives grouped by project it may not. If you have selected a specific folder or project in the Sidebar, items in projects outside that selection will not be shown in the results.
By cracky, that worked! I’m so used to another task manager that showed a separate, “search within project” text box for the project below the “global” search box, that I just assumed all my searches there would be global.
I learned something new today, and learning is half of the battle. (GI Joe theme plays in the background).
