Little dot after the note icon?

I take it this little dot between the note icon and the project/context is simply there as a spacing element?

I am wondering if it is necessary at all? Would removing that help to simplify the look of the app?

I agree. I think it is one of the elements that does not need to be there.

Loving the improved data density in most recent builds. While I can see the pros and cons of a one line option, one of the items that I feel contributes to the “visual chatter” on the second line is the placement of the notes icon. If you move the note icon to the end of line 2, I believe there is an immediate visual improvement that contributes to this density issue. I just downloaded the latest build 207553 and I don’t mind the little dots so much now, as they seem to have been de-emphasised.
