Mac sierra desktop and documents sharing may have knocked out omnipresence

The “Duplicate Location” error message is referring to the cloud location. It means that OmniPresence thinks you already have a syncing folder setup on the Mac that is connected to the same sync account to which you are currently attempting to setup a new sync folder. Is that possible here? If there is an existing sync folder, you either need to move that folder to an approved location on the Mac (e.g. the top level of the Home directory), or disconnect it and move it to the Trash and then setup a new syncing folder.

The option to include the Desktop and Documents folders in automatic iCloud Drive syncing was added in macOS Sierra (and is turned on by default). We discovered shortly thereafter that having a syncing OmniPresence folder in a location that iCloud is also syncing can lead to data corruption, so we had to disallow the Desktop and Documents folder locations and recommend the Home folder in the v1.5.1 OmniPresence update.

Even if the Mac where you’re having trouble now does have the OmniPresence folder located in the Home folder, if that Mac is syncing with any other Macs that still have their OmniPresence folder in a location that is syncing with iCloud (or any other sync server), that could result in corruption.

You’ll definitely want to move the OmniPresence folder to a non-iCloud location on ALL syncing Macs in order to ensure the best OmniPresence sync experience.

Thanks, Anne, and for your reply to the support ticket, where I’ll stay in touch to try to resolve the issues.
