UPDATE: I was able to get Omnifocus running after a clean removal and install. However it crashes more regularly than prior betas (ie. expanding note field)
NOTE: I am experiencing these issues on iOS and iPadOS 26.2 betas with Omnifocus Beta installed.
We’re not currently running an active TestFlight of OmniFocus, so the release build of 4.8.5 available through the App Store is newer than the test builds available in TestFlight. Can you check whether you’re still seeing issues in that final 4.8.5 release?
Thanks Ken. I just downloaded version 4.8.6 from the Omnigroup downloads website.
I am still experiencing frequent crashes. In this instance I was in Forecast view and clicked the note icon to expand it.
As I noted earlier this started occurring when I upgraded MacOS to 26.2 beta so I understand this my risk and issue. I’m raising here and in crash report to make you and other users aware.
Same here! Crashes almost instantly after launch. Have sent one report (seems unneccessary to send them all) via the built in crash detector email.
Please fix when you have the time. :)
Re-installed from AppStore and it worked well! Sigh! (I’ve got my whole life organized in there)! Now a question: Should I stop using TestFlight versions while running OS public betas?
I’ve never used it before today but it seems do just fine. Yes, I have OmniFocus on my iPhone and iPad but find it to hard to do anything major because of my big fingers… LOL
Hopefully the next beta from Apple will fix this problem…
Note to self: get off the beta rollercoaster… stick with the releases as you are NOT a developer testing out code.
We’ve tracked this down to a bug in the system frameworks in macOS 26.2 beta 1, and we’ve reported the bug to Apple. We also have a 4.8.7 test build available which works around the system bug. You can download it from:
@kcase I just installed the 8.4.7 and I am now back up and running on my Mac.
I really am impressed you took the time and effort to address this so quickly. I did consider this an issue with Apple and my own preference to work with betas (and assume the risk).
Apple appears to have fixed this crash with today’s release of macOS 26.2 beta 2, so it’s no longer necessary to use a test build of OmniFocus to solve this issue.
The bug in beta 1 was that any asset catalog colors defined as controlAccentColor (for the macOS variant) were failing when the user had their Theme color in System Settings set to the default Multicolor option. Our workaround for the bug was to stop using an asset catalog to look up that color (as the color for links in notes).
