Numbering sequencing

Hey, I am producing a document that will ultimately be exported to word, (don’t like using word for initial doc drafting). However i have a doc that has multiple levels, however within the child levels, i want to omit the numbering of these, however i want to then start the numbering sequence from the original parent in sequence but skipping over the previous un-numbered children. for example

This is what i want:
*5.1 blah blah blah blah effectively level 2

  • more blah blah but from a child of 5.1, theoretically it would be 5.1.1
  • some more blah blah which is still a child of 5.1 and a sibling of the one directly above. again theoretically this is 5.1.2
5.1.1 is what i am really after…this is effectively level 3, however numbering sequencing like it is directly a child of 5.1*

This is what i get:
*5.1 blah blah blah blah effectively level 2

  • more blah blah but from a child of 5.1, theoretically it would be 5.1.1 (level 3)
  • some more blah blah which is still a child of 5.1 and a sibling of the one directly above. again theoretically this is 5.1.2 (level 3)
5.1.3 is what i really get…this is effectively level 3, however numbering sequencing like it is takes into account of a 3rd child of 5.1*

Is the only way to do this, by using notes in level 2? (but then i can’t have dedicated levels within it without post processing in word)
Or is there a way to get it so OO misses out the unselected and un-numbered children of level 2 parent and continues with the follow on numbering sequencing?

Perhaps what i am wanting to ask is, is it possible to have two level 3’s with different numbering sequencing?

Thanks in advance
