OF4: How can I get straight to the inspector (and skip the outline)

In OF3 (iPhone), one tap on a task took me straight to the wonderful inspector, now in OF4 it opens the outline, which is like a poor cousin of the inspector, and I have to tap a second time.

Is there a setting to change this back to how it was? I haven’t been able to find one.

I really can’t see the point of the outline when the inspector does everything and more. Also, having the task expanding in-line all the time and moving the whole list up and down is driving me mad.

I like OF4 on Mac and iPad but I’ve gone back to OF3 on the iPhone for basic editing.

I agree with you completely on this! The in-line editing UI is very unattractive, especially on an iPhone. There’s a bunch of wasted space and the icons make it difficult for me to quickly interpret the fields. Give me the icons or the field name… not both! I think Things 3 has implemented that particular use case WAY better. In the meantime I wish I could just have the inspector slide over when I tap on an action, but that extra step to tap the inspector icon is the only choice.

I’m happy for anything to be there that somebody else likes differently to me, I just want to be able to turn it off, and assumed that you would be able to.

+1 - very much agree with the above with one enhancement request modification - I would really like the configuration setting to be per perspective and not all or nothing. There are a few perspectives that I really want the inspector to open on a click and some to expand inline - for me it depends on the perspective.

Thanks so much for considering.
