OmniFocus 4 shipped one year ago today! 4.0 brought a unified, approachable, modern, customizable interface to the app on all its native platforms.

Which of the major updates since then has been your favorite?

  • 4.2 — added new perspective rules like “has date in range”
  • 4.3 — support for device Focus Filters
  • 4.4 — lock screen controls, tinted home screen, Apple Watch double-tap
  • 4.5 — powerful new Shortcuts, Genmoji, Mac appearance customization

Thanks so much for 2024! Looking forward to the Road Map 2025 announcement next year!

4.2, date range is the one I was waiting more for my workflow. I feel OF4 is underutilized to learn from our past time and project allocation. It has all the data but little functionality to exploit it, at least for non-savvy IT automation users.

Overall, the more flexibility and choice in custom perspectives to generate not only views but ‘reports’ is the function I crave most for.

Apple watch improvements are also welcome since with OF3 I couldn’t rely on it, not stable in my watch. I didn’t test OF4 since I don’t have today an apple watch anymore, but I was missing better performance when I did.

Looking forward to se what 2025 roadmap will bring.
