Preventing labels used within a stencil from showing up as stencils themselves

I’ve scoured the internet looking for best practices for Stencil creation… No joy. I was able to create my own stencils from Adobe Illustrator Vector drawings, but I’m curious if there is a way to keep labels that I use within the stencil from showing up as objects themselves. I don’t see anything in the docs regarding stencil creation details. The only objects that I want to act like stencils are the drawings themselves.

I think I figured this out myself… If you lock objects when you are creating the stencil file you aren’t able to drag those objects into a working document.
