Setting equal vertical distance?

If I have several shapes and I want to select them all and have OG automatically make sure the vertical distance between each shape is the same, so they’re all evenly spaced, how do I do that?

You can do this with the Alignment tools. See attached image. It only takes 10 sec or less once you know how to use the tool. I’m not sure I’m answering you question, so if not, could you provide a bit more detail?
