As I play around with my Omnifocus set up, I am hoping for some help on my workflow.
Background: I maintain my checklists as a Taskpaper document on my Mac. In Keyboard Maestro, I have a hot key that generates a drop down list from which I can choose multiple options. Depending on which ones I choose, the appropriate Taskpaper file is read on the local Mac, copied to the clipboard and then pasted into Omnifocus. Just doing this creates everything as tasks and so to convert it to a project, I call Shift+! in Keyboard Maestro.
What I am trying to do - I would like to move these newly created projects into specific folders using Keyboard Maestro automation. Is this possible?
You can specify where the project sits in your hierarchy within the Taskpaper format
To add as a project with actions / sub actions, Set up your taskpaper by having the project name with no indentation and then indenting your actions within the project with a tab
e.g.
Packing list for DisneyWorld @parallel(true) @due(«due») @autodone(true)
Packing kit @parallel(true) @autodone(true)
Cases @parallel(true) @autodone(true)
Suitcase
Bag
Carry on
Packing Cubes
The first line is the project
You can further streamline by adding your project into a folder by setting your project name after the folder name(s) with a semi colon surrounded by spaces
e.g.
Folder : Project name
or you can go into subfolders too
Personal : Family holiday : DisneyWorld
Would add the DisneyWorld project into the Personal \ Family Holiday folder
Full disclosure I’ve used the above with Shortcuts and Drafts to add Taskpaper templates as new projects.
@Geoffairey - thank you for the suggestion. It does look simple enough. But when I try it out (with the example in your msg), I still get tasks instead of projects. I am definitely doing something wrong but cannot seem to figure it out. I am attaching screenshots of what I get (of1 and of2) and a screenshot of my task paper file (of3)
