Tracking original due date for items postponed

Hello, If I change the due date on an item, is there a way to track the original date for that item? And is there a way to know how many times the due date has been postponed?

The goal is to flag items that have been delayed too much (e.g. 3 x) in order to force a decision to either do/ drop definitively.

There isn’t currently a way to track changes to items. I could definitely see it being useful to have access to some sort of an activity stream that accompanies each item.
