I have some Projects that I generate using Shortcuts and Taskpaper nomenclature with a lot of the Tags preset. I use these as Checklists for things I do regularly so I don’t miss any steps. Some of these Projects have 3 or more stages where I send something to someone else and have to wait for them to respond.
I have a Waiting Perspective which I believe used to only show the first item in a project that had a Tag of E - Waiting if it was the first page in a project which wasn’t complete (or in a parallel project, one of the first)
The E - Waiting Tag is paused, so when I reach an action assigned to E - Waiting, the Project the waiting actions is in becomes paused. This makes sense to me because I can’t take any action on this project. But once a week I want to go and chase those actions I’m waiting for, hence the Perspective.
But the Perspective now shows every single task on E - Waiting in any project which is Active or Paused. This includes showing projects where the next action (the one I’m actually waiting on) is joined by other waiting actions which are not “active” yet within the same project. The perspective also shows ANY project which has an action which (when I get to it) is pre-tagged with E-Waiting but due to having actions before it is not the next available action.
Here’s the setup:
I can see why it’s doing this from the logic, but (again) I don’t believe that it used to do this. e.g. It didn’t used to show Projects where the next action wasn’t tagged with E - Waiting, but a later one is.
What I believe it used to do (and my desired behaviour) is to show the only those actions (nested into their project) where the first action is tagged E - Waiting.
I can’t use the First Available value instead of Remaining on Availability because the E - Waiting Tag is paused.
I hope that makes sense, and would appreciate if someone can either explain what changed, what I’ve missed in configuration, or if it’s not possible to do what I’m asking (which I think may be the case) and my memory is going.
