I am running Omnigraffle Pro 7.24.1 I need to create a pie chart with ‘pop-out’ wedges. Reading through Omnigraffle help and Google and Forums and… I see that there are Adjustable Wedges available in Shapes. My Shapes only have Plain and Shadowed options.
Where do I find/How do I access these Adjustable Shapes/Wedges?
Thanks!
If there isn’t a stencil with the adjustable shape you want, you can start with some other shape and then switch it to the desired adjustable shape via the Shape inspector.
Thanks for the reply Andrew! I was going to say that’s the problem: there is no Adjustable section in the Shape inspector. However, I tried it before responding. By simply drawing a square and THEN going to the Shape inspector, I now have the Adjustable options and can create my Adjustable Wedge! I see now that I have to select the Shape drawing tool and then go to the inspector to see the Adjustable options. That was not intuitive at all and not mentioned in any documentation. Thank you so very much for your response!
Intuitive jumped out of the window at OG v6, she met MoreClicks and they ran off into the forest together, where they lived secretly ever after. One can only imagine what OG v7 does.

I love that, thanks GraffleGuru. Now I understand why I have so many little setbacks with v7 lmao.

You shouldn’t have to select the Shape drawing tool first to change an existing graphic’s shape: just select the graphic and then visit the inspector.
If you have the Shape tool selected but don’t have anything selected on the canvas, the inspector will adjust how the Shape tool works. If you do have a shaped graphic selected on the canvas, the inspector adjusts the selection.
Unless I’m misunderstanding you, the only time the Shape inspector should be empty is if you don’t have a shape on the canvas and you don’t have the Shape tool selected either.
If that’s not what you’re seeing, would love for you to email our support team to figure out what the problem is.
The problem is, OG is not consistent, one cannot rely on the operation.
This (your quote, following) is true some times, and not others … and when it is not, one has to draw a dummy shape just to get access to the Shape Inspector:
I absolutely hate the way the Inspectors change, based on some person’s nonsensical notion of what I want to do.
Access to Stencils is even worse.
The larger problem is, as suzyqballoon has stated, the notion of intuitive is lost, and the OG development team notion of intuitive changes with each version, resulting in (tangibly) more clicks.
- OG v5 is less intuitive and less productive that OG v4
- OG v6 is less intuitive and less productive that OG v5
- I have “sold” OG to customers, which means they have OG v7, and they scream that it is worse than my OG v6 (which they see me use interactively on my Zoom sessions)
- I am not about to pay even more money for OG v7 to obtain even less product than OG v6.
Thanks but no. I did that years ago, spent an awful lot of time, and nothing came of it.
I would pay money to get OG v5 to work on Apple M3/MacOS Sonoma 14.7. I would pay even more money to get OG v4 to work.
Cheers
